The R&A challenged us to deliver an innovative design for The Clubhouse at The Open 2024 at St. Andrews, emphasizing immersive and luxurious experiences aligned with modern hospitality trends. The brief called for the seamless integration of biophilic design, blending indoor and outdoor spaces to foster a connection with nature. This vision was realized through the use of natural materials, abundant greenery, and open, airy layouts, creating an atmosphere of relaxation and rejuvenation.
Our response was a set of CGI renderings showcasing a refined mix of modern minimalism and nature-inspired luxury, subtly enhanced with athletic branding that nods to the event's heritage. The design incorporates a cohesive aesthetic across functional areas, including a welcoming reception, a sophisticated barista bar, a peaceful players' lounge, and an elegant fine-dining space. This approach aimed to ensure the new clubhouse embodied contemporary luxury while maintaining harmony with The Open's storied traditions and natural surroundings.
